About Us

Danny

I grew up in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia. I loved playing sports, all sports. My love for the natural world came a bit later, starting at age 13 when I went backpacking for the first time in New Mexico, and my mind hasn't been able to leave the mountains ever since. I've guided backpacking, canoeing, winter camping, and rock climbing trips, and I've been an environmental educator for a few years as well. I'm happiest now while backpacking and cycling (duh), reading, learning about flora and fauna, playing or listening to music, and rock climbing. This is my first bicycle tour, and I'm excited to explore the Americas.

Tamara
I grew up in Timonium, Maryland, a suburb outside of Baltimore. From a young age I loved playing in the woods, stream walking, tree climbing, and just exploring. I went to college at Bowdoin in Maine and majored in Biology and Asian Studies. Both topics furthered my interests in culture and the natural world. Maine also provided me with opportunities to surf, kayak, backpack, climb, and attempt any sort of outdoor adventure I could imagine. After college I worked for 2 years at High Trails Outdoor Science School teaching life skills and environmental science to young students from Los Angeles. This trip is my third bicycle tour and has been amazing so far! When I'm not biking, I enjoy reading, cooking, and playing ukulele.

  1. This sounds like a fantastic, extremely well planned trip! Your cousin also named Danny has a close friend who is an eco-tourist manager of a hotel on the coast of Oregon on Depoe Bay. Paul and his financee Alyssa are about your age. If you'll be near there, I will give you his cell phone and email. I'm sure you will remember every incident on this trip for the rest of your lives.

  2. Wonderful to meet you two seasoned cyclists here on your last couple of days in Canada ...hope you have the time to hike in Waterton Lakes National Park. And hopefully my sister-in-law and her husband will receive a knock on their door in Mazatlan from you ...down the road! Who knows we may meet up in November too in California!

    1. Hey! We didn't spend much time there, as we wanted to get over Logan Pass, but we did do the Bears Hump and greatly enjoyed our night by those beautiful lakes. You have one heck of an office! Thanks again to you and Alice for all your kindness! See you down the road!
