Want To Help?

There are many fantastic organizations that work diligently and efficiently to conserve the natural world. We have decided to support the following organizations because they have provided significant education and inspiration to both of us.

If you're interested in our journey, please consider donating to one of our chosen charities.  Any contribution is much appreciated.

National Audubon Society
http://www.audubon.org/
The National Audubon Society has provided us with beautiful field guides and friendly naturalists, and has inspired a love of birds in both of us. Your donation goes towards valuable scientific initiatives, habitat preservation, education, and advocacy for avian protection.

Jane Goodall Institute
http://www.janegoodall.org/
Jane Goodall's insightful writing has helped us develop our own spirituality and connection to nature.  She is an incredible model of how to combine field research, outreach, and education. Your donation goes towards ending the commercial bushmeat trade, providing safe habitats for orphaned chimpanzees, restoring African habitat, and educating youth through the Roots and Shoots program.

National Parks Foundation

Visiting the U.S. National Parks was our original inspiration for this trip. We continue to enjoy the beautiful scenery and educational opportunities that these wonderful places have to offer. Your donation goes towards protecting these precious areas.

The Wilderness Society

While in Alaska, we learned a lot about Mardy and Olaus Murie, who worked tirelessly with this organization in support of conservation.  Their legacy lives on through many of the pristine wilderness areas in Alaska, including the threatened Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

The Nature Conservancy
http://www.nature.org/
This organization owns a lot of land for the purpose of conservation that might otherwise be developed, land that we've seen and ridden by.  The area just outside of Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada, parts of the Channel Islands off the coast of California, random spots in British Columbia... they are clearly making a difference.  They also partner with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, a fantastic conservation-based research lab devoted to birds.
